This piece is from c2003 when I was experimenting with glaze on glaze. 400mm diameter. Although this one hit the mark it was never something that got my imagination working. Inspiration was an earthview photo, taken from the moon. Not sure it really worked.

This is probably my all time favorite piece so far. Made about 5 years ago and sold through Ceramic Art Gallery, Sydney to a collector. The influence behind it was Venturi's studies of fluid flow principles that are used by engineers to this day. Hence the title "Venturi form". In reality it is only half a venturi and a blocked one at that but, hey! I said "influence", not rules. It was about 500mm diameter from memory, about as big as I can successfully fire a pure copper red in my current kiln. Over that size I start getting "burnouts" from the flame. Some of those look great but not on this form - at least not to my eye.
